disaster series

disaster series

this is a series of 5 shots i had to do for my film class. the idea was to make a fictional documentary story. so my fictional story was this character returning home after a natural disaster had torn through his home. the prints look better in real life, things never look as good scanned as they do first hand.

special thanks to mike sicoli for helping me out with the shots and borrowing his lens.

  1. I love how simple, yet powerful, your images are. They tell the story beautifully without any unnecessary components and I think that's the best way to go about it, to focus on the most fundamental aspects of the narrative. I notice a lot of people have a problem with incorporating a lot of unnecessary “details” into a piece and personally I find it rather distracting.

Good job. 🙂 And thanks for aiding my procrastination for a few minutes haha. Back to work I go…

  2. Thanks Christa, I really appreciate that. Sometimes, especially with a series of images it's easier to tell a story piece by piece.

Thanks Mrs P and Mike, very much appreciated.

  3. awesome, great photo treatment. I love how the overall setting of your 'documentary' is still evident through photo processing. You've always had a knack for doing that sort of stuff! 🙂 awesome

  4. Thanks Kara but there is actually minimal processing. Besides all the scanning and stuff. The white dots is just dust from scanning. The colours and exposures and such were all done in the darkroom.
